Ditching My Toxic Ex The Heiress Returns

Chapter 2

Logan didn't sleep in our bedroom that night.

The next morning, I found him asleep on the desk in the study.

The desk was covered with colorful hand-folded origami paper stars and a pink envelope.

His fingers were still stained with ink.

I let out a self-deprecating laugh.

Obviously, these weren't for me.

He must have stayed up all night preparing this for Hailey.

Meanwhile, every gift he had ever given me was either lingerie or adult toys. Without exception.

I forced back the tears threatening to spill.

I took a glass of water and poured it directly over his carefully prepared gifts, watching the pink paper turn into a soggy mess.

The noise woke Logan up. When he saw his ruined work, his face flushed with pure rage.

"Chloe, are you fucking crazy?! Do you have any idea how long I spent making those?"

He grabbed my shoulders and shook me violently, nearly dislodging my unshed tears. "What, are you jealous?"

Then he realized I wasn't supposed to know about Hailey.

He let out a cold scoff. "I... I was trying to make a surprise for you."

I smiled bitterly. He really thought I was an idiot. But then again, I was the one who had trusted him blindly.

I never pried into his life. I believed every single lie he told me.

That was why he dared to lie so blatantly.

I picked up one of the wet paper stars and slowly unfolded it. I read the words written inside aloud: "Hailey, I will keep every promise I made to you."

I read it word by word, mocking him, and mocking myself.

Logan furiously snatched it back. "Chloe, your behavior is disgusting. You have no respect for other people's feelings."

He slammed the door and stormed out.

My heart felt empty, but at the same time, I felt a strange sense of relief.

The more I pushed his buttons, the more his true, ugly self came out. The faster he showed his true colors, the faster I could get over him.

Soon, the guy who added me on Snapchat sent me a message.

“Hey beautiful, down for tonight?”

“Logan doesn't want you anymore. He’s planning to propose to his college sweetie, Hailey, tonight.”

Attached was a screenshot of Hailey's private Instagram story.

It was a candid photo of the two of them studying in the library.

Logan was wearing his basketball jersey, and Hailey had her hair in cute pigtails. They looked like the perfect high school sweethearts.

I replied coldly: “Sure, let’s meet.”

My reply was immediately screenshotted by the creep and sent to Logan as a trophy.

A minute later, my phone rang. It was Logan, screaming in a rage. "Chloe! You just can't keep your legs closed, can you? I’m not even dead yet, and you’re already booking rooms with other men?!"

I lit a cigarette with trembling fingers to calm my nerves. "Where are you right now? Who are you with?"

Silence fell over the other end of the line. Then, he hung up.

The answer was obvious.

The creep sent me the address of a local VIP lounge, and I drove over.

After all, in this city, no one actually dared to mess with me once they knew who my father was.

I walked into the dimly lit VIP booth. A crowd of college kids was drinking and singing.

Sitting right in the center of the couch were Logan and Hailey.

Hailey looked nervous and out of place, her innocent look clashing heavily with the wild party atmosphere.

When Logan saw me walk in, a flash of panic crossed his eyes, but it was quickly replaced by deep disgust.

The creep waved me over, and I sat down gracefully next to him.

They started playing a drinking game. The bottle spun and landed on Hailey.

She had to choose "dare." The dare was to kiss any guy in the room.

Hailey glanced at me, clearly aware of who I was.

Instead of choosing a guy, she grabbed a shot of tequila and chugged it. Her face turned bright red instantly.

Logan immediately snatched the rest of the alcohol from her hand, looking deeply protective.

"You don't have to do this when I’m here."

I stared at them, dazed.

Logan had a weak stomach, and in the past, I was always the one who drank for him.

I didn't want him to ruin his health, so I never let him touch hard liquor.

I had taken countless drinks for him, but I had never seen that look of concern in his eyes.

All he ever did was look at me with smirk and whisper in my ear, “Babe, you’re such a good drinker.”

Logan finished the penalty drink for Hailey, his brows furrowed in pain.

I stood up and quietly walked out of the room.

At this point, I was absolutely sure I had no feelings left for him.

I only felt disgusted.

Two more days.

Then, I would leave this city for good.
