Chapter 2

I stood outside a high-end nail salon right next to the hospital, rain dripping down my face.

Through the glass window, I saw Chloe relaxing in a plush chair, letting a manicurist paint her nails.

I shoved the door open, rushed across the room, and dropped to one knee before her.

"Chloe, I finally found you!"

Every customer in the salon turned to stare, whispering frantically.

"Who is that guy?" "Wait, isn't he that scumbag trending all over TikTok for abandoning his pregnant wife?!"

Chloe looked up, shock flashing through her eyes before she smoothed her expression into cool poise. "Logan? What are you doing here?"

"Chloe, please, I just need to talk to you!"

"I heard you lost your memory?" She arched an eyebrow.

"Chloe, you're the only person I remember. I've forgotten everyone else."

"Even your wife who's eight months pregnant? The whole internet is dragging your name through the mud." A flicker of smug delight passed across Chloe's face, quickly replaced by feigned indifference.

I stayed on my knees, taking her hands in mine. "I only love you. I never stopped. People told me about my past with Angela, but none of that matters now. All I know is that you're the only one I could never forget."

"Those lost memories are meaningless. The only thing that matters right now is that I love you, and only you!" I pressed my forehead gently against the back of her hand.

My phone rang loudly, shattering the moment. It was the hospital.

"Mr. Hayes! Your wife is hemorrhaging heavily. We urgently need your Rh-negative blood! Please get here immediately—"

"I don't have a wife," I cut in. "My blood belongs to Chloe and Chloe alone."

"Sir, there are two lives on the line! Your wife is already—"

"I need to stay healthy for Chloe. Chloe is going to have my children one day. I can't waste my blood on anyone else."

I hung up. Chloe's eyes gleamed with stunning intensity.

"You really... did that for me?"

"Chloe, I can't survive without you."

The salon doors burst open, and my parents stormed inside.

"Logan! Are you out of your mind?! Angela and the baby are dying!" My father lunged forward, grabbing my collar.

My mother fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face. "Son, I'm begging you! Angela's condition is terrible. The doctors said if she doesn't get blood right now, the baby won't make it!"

"I don't know any Angela! I only love Chloe!" I shoved my father's hands away violently.

Chloe gently caressed my cheek. "Don't worry, Logan. I'm right here."

My father's face twisted with fury as he grabbed me again. "Do you truly not remember a single thing Angela did for you?!"

I offered a contemptuous smirk. "I only remember Chloe's goodness. Everyone else means nothing to me."

"Your child isn't even born yet and you're already abandoning him! You absolute monster!"

My mother wept hysterically. "Angela was so good to you! How could you be this cruel?!"

Onlookers whipped out their phones, frantically recording every second of this grotesque spectacle.

"Look at him! That's the guy who dumped his pregnant wife!" "Total sociopath confirmed!"

I grabbed Chloe's hand. "Let's go. Ignore these crazy people."

Chloe made a show of lightly pushing me away. "Logan, are you really just going to let your wife die?"

Her lips said one thing, but her eyes danced with raw triumph and excitement.

"In my heart, you are my only wife."

I opened the car door for her, casting a freezing glare at my parents and the crowd.

As Chloe slipped into the passenger seat, the corners of her lips curled into a viciously satisfied smirk.
