My Billionaire Dad Became a Lovesick Fool
Chapter 2
Three days later...
"Sir, a Miss Chloe Bennett is here to see your father."
"Let her in."
I smiled. That was fast. I thought she would have held out a bit longer.
"Hello, Mr. Sterling."
Chloe clutched her handbag tightly, looking quite anxious.
I took her in quietly. She was around twenty, with a plain, innocent-looking face. She deliberately avoided my gaze when our eyes met.
So my old man got tired of flashy women and decided to go for a seemingly simple, wholesome girl?
She was young, sure. But as for the rest, I lost interest after a single glance.
"I came today to ask if you’ve heard from Arthur."
"He’s been missing for days. I don't know..."
"He was kidnapped."
I delivered the news with a polite smile, watching her face drop in shock.
"The kidnappers want a hundred million dollars. Otherwise, they'll kill him."
"Miss Bennett, right? Maybe you should start looking for your next target."
As I spoke, my eyes remained locked on her face.
I watched her expression shift from disbelief to deep sorrow, and then to a pleading look.
I couldn't help but admire her acting skills in my head.
If I didn't know deep down that she was only after his money, I might have actually believed her.
But I was an expert player myself. She couldn't fool me with her cheap drama.
"Arthur is your father! Aren't you going to save him?"
I expressionlessly pulled out the asset transfer agreement and waved it in front of her.
"I’m sure you know he was planning to transfer everything to you."
"Before making that decision, he didn't care at all about leaving a single penny to his own son."
"So tell me, why should I save him?"
Her eyes hungrily followed the papers in my hand. I tossed them onto the table in front of her.
"If you were in my shoes, would you save him?"
Chloe didn't say a word. She picked up the agreement, her hands trembling with excitement as she flipped through the pages.
I let out a cold laugh and leaned back into the soft sofa.
"Don't get too excited. He was kidnapped before he could sign it."
Seeing the flash of disappointment in her eyes, I knew exactly what she was thinking. I made a suggestion.
"Since my dad cared about you so much, why don't you stay here for now? I'll look after you on his behalf."
Chloe didn't agree immediately. She instantly put up a defensive posture.
I shook my head and looked at her mockingly.
"Relax. You're not my type."
