My Company Wanted Me to Pay for Their Clients
Chapter 1
I maxed out my personal credit card to entertain our biggest client, drinking top-shelf whiskey until my stomach burned, just to secure a million-dollar contract for the company.
But the finance department rejected my expense report. The reason? "This expenditure was a personal, voluntary act."
My manager patted my shoulder and said, "Think of it as an investment in your career, Logan. Don’t sweat the small stuff."
I nodded, smiled, and silently tucked the $2,500 receipt back into my wallet.
A week later, the most prestigious company in the industry reached out to us for a massive partnership. This time, I refused to take the lead.
"Company policy states that employees must participate in large-scale, sudden projects voluntarily. No one can be forced."
"Besides, I'm completely broke. I don’t have the money to entertain clients anymore."
My manager lost his mind, but none of my colleagues stepped up to take the bullet.
Finally, the CEO called me directly:
"Logan, I just personally approved your $2,500 reimbursement. Now, pick up the project immediately!"
