None of Our Six Sons Are Mine. She'll Pay
Chapter 4
Chloe blinked in disbelief, then exploded into a screaming fit.
She rolled up her sleeves, planted one hand on her hip, and pointed a finger in my face.
"Logan, are you out of your damn mind?! Making a scene over something this trivial?! I'm giving you one chance to take this back. I'm counting to three!"
Mason flipped through the terms of the settlement, his expression darkening with every line.
"Logan, do you have any decency left? You want a divorce, and you're leaving Chloe with nothing? She gave you six of her best years, and this is how you treat her? As an outsider, this is sickening to watch! If I posted this online, people would drag you through hell! Get on your knees and apologize to Chloe right now, and I'll help talk her down so we can put this behind us!"
I didn't waste my breath. I stared at Chloe with eyes completely devoid of warmth. "Are you going to sign it, or not?"
"Logan... are you being serious?" Seeing the dead calm in my face, Chloe's arrogance faltered.
"Does biological blood really matter that much to you? I told you, this baby in my stomach is definitely yours! What more do you want? Fine, Mason and I will use protection from now on, okay? Stop acting so petty!"
Mason saw an opening and pitched his own grand compromise.
"Logan, how about this? I'll move into the guest room. I'll help handle Chloe and the kids around the clock. That way, you'll have zero family stress. You can just focus on your hospital job and bringing home the money for us."
Unbelievable.
The sheer audacity of these two monsters took my breath away.
Knowing communication was impossible, I pulled out my phone and called Chloe's parents.
Within half an hour, her father, Andrew, and her mother, Claire, burst through the front door, head-to-toe in luxury brands. Both were unemployed freeloaders whose entire lifestyle was funded by my paychecks.
I naively assumed they possessed a shred of basic human morality.
I couldn't have been more wrong.
When they heard the full story, neither Andrew nor Claire looked the least bit surprised. They had known about Chloe and Mason's sickening affair from the very beginning.
I was the only fool in the dark. Birds of a feather really did flock together!
Andrew sat on the couch beside me, patting my shoulder consolingly.
"Logan, you need to let it go."
"Mason and Chloe share a once-in-a-lifetime love. He vowed never to marry another woman for her sake. It's only natural she had a few sons with him."
He leaned in closer, lowering his voice.
"Besides, she told you the baby she's carrying right now is yours. You're going to be a father again!"
"You should be popping champagne, not throwing tantrums and filing for divorce. There's nothing we can't talk through."
I stared at him, flabbergasted by his casual tone.
"If your wife cheated on you and made you raise another man's kids for six years, would you be preaching this garbage?"
Andrew choked, his face reddening.
Claire didn't bother playing nice. She snatched the divorce papers off the table and tore them into confetti.
"Logan, don't push your luck! You're an average-looking 5'7" doctor! Marrying a goddess like my daughter was your family's biggest stroke of luck!"
"You want a divorce? Fine!"
"You walk away with nothing! The house and the cars belong to Chloe. She spent six years with you. You will pay her $100,000 for every year she wasted, plus a $500,000 settlement for emotional distress!"
"Don't worry, we're reasonable people. You can keep all the kids!"
Andrew and Claire rambled on without pause. My stomach churned so violently I thought I was going to vomit.
I shot up from the couch.
"What are you doing?!" Chloe flinched, instinctively burying herself against Mason's shoulder.
I began to clap slowly, forcing a polite smile across my face.
"My mistake. I was being small-minded. Let's forget the divorce. We'll go back to how things were. Tomorrow, I'll take you to the clinic for a full prenatal checkup. You're pregnant, after all. Stress isn't good for the baby."
Chloe's chest puffed out with arrogant triumph.
"Glad you finally saw reason. But since you raised your voice at me earlier, you're clearing out my Amazon cart tonight, or you won't hear the end of it!"
I said nothing, merely giving a casual shrug.
