Chapter 2

"You're teaching my daughter how to mess around with boys! You're telling her to ruin her life!"

"She is fourteen! Why does she need to hear this now? Am I not her mother? Can I not teach her myself?"

"She'll figure it out on her own when she's grown!"

"What kind of agenda are you pushing? You're obsessed with pleasing men, aren't you? You want to drag my daughter into the gutter with you!"

"I'm reporting you to the district superintendent! I'm suing you! I'm calling the cops to drag you out of here in handcuffs!"

By then, the vice principal had heard the commotion and rushed into the office.

Seeing the woman's feral aggression, he frowned deeply.

"Fine. Let's let the police handle this."

Two patrol officers arrived at the school within ten minutes.

Once they heard the general story, they suggested Lily go back to class so she wouldn't miss her lessons.

Mrs. Davis narrowed her eyes, agreed, but demanded she follow her daughter to the classroom to "check things out."

The whole crowd ended up trailing behind Lily to the hallway.

It was currently math class.

The boy in question, Leo Carter, happened to be the math aide. He was handing out graded tests to his classmates.

The second the door opened, Mrs. Davis darted inside, seized Leo by his shirt collar, and hauled him toward the whiteboard.

She was so fast that none of us could react in time.

"It's you! You little punk! You're the one seducing my daughter!"

"I know kids like you! Rotten to the core!"

"Apologize to my daughter right now in front of everyone! Then drop out of this school by tomorrow!"

"Swear that you will never speak a single word to her again!"

The entire classroom went dead silent.

Leo's face turned bright red with confusion and humiliation.

The officers rushed forward to separate them.

Yet Mrs. Davis kept lunging at the boy like a rabid animal.

That was when Lily, who hadn't said a single syllable all morning, completely snapped.

She shoved past two teachers and ripped her mother's hands off Leo.

"Mom! Stop it, please! It was all my fault! It has nothing to do with Miss Vance or Leo!"

"You already cut Miss Vance's face! What more do you want?!"

"I'm the shameless one, okay? I'm the bad kid! Just stop humiliating me at school!"

Her words only poured gasoline on her mother's rage.

"Oh, talking back to your mother now, are you? You're just like your ungrateful sister! Total trash!"

Mrs. Davis raised her palm high.

Lily closed her eyes in despair, tilting her chin away, bracing for the inevitable strike.

The hit never landed.

I stepped right between them and caught her wrist mid-air.

"Mrs. Davis. This is an educational institution, not your personal fighting ring."

The officers were getting severe headaches from the chaos.

They firmly escorted Mrs. Davis and the rest of us into an empty conference room.

Filthy insults kept pouring from the woman's mouth until the officers laid down the law with firm warnings.

The mediation was miserable.

Eventually, the mother dropped her final demand:

"Transfer my daughter to another class! Right now! Otherwise, her brain will stay filled with this trash and her grades will tank!"
