The Mistress I Buried Became My Wife’s Best Friend

Chapter 1

2,896 words

Five years ago, Nina told me to divorce my wife and marry her, or she would expose our relationship.

I agreed.

Then I poisoned her in the water, burned her to ashes, and buried her two meters underground.

She was an orphan, and after she died, there wasn’t even anyone to report her missing.

And my wife, Mia, knew nothing about any of this.

So why was she suddenly bringing up Nina?

Had she found out something?

Seeing the panic all over my face, Mia blinked in confusion. “Why are you reacting like that? Aren’t you and Nina good friends?”

“Because of that connection between you two, she took such good care of me.”

“The time I accidentally fell and almost miscarried, she was the one who called the doctor in time and saved our baby.”

I watched Mia carefully.

I found that she had no intention of testing me at all. She was just naturally telling me what happened.

I knew Mia very well. Her thoughts were always written on her face. She didn’t have the skills to act.

That meant she didn’t know about my affair with Nina.

She mentioned Nina only because Nina had helped her.

No, that was wrong!

A deep chill suddenly washed over me!

Nina was dead!

“Mia, are you mistaken? I’ve never known anyone named Nina.”

“What is that Nina you’re talking about? What does she do? What does she look like?”

The confusion in Mia’s eyes deepened. “That can’t be. Nina kept telling me that when she was on a business trip in New York five years ago, you helped her out a lot.”

“She messed up a project and then got sick, and since you saw her as a fellow countrywoman and felt sorry for her, you not only paid for her medical bills, but also helped her smooth things over with the client....”

My back went cold, and I clenched my palm hard.

This really was my past with Nina!

That year, I went to New York on a business trip and happened to meet Nina.

She looked a lot like my first love from years ago.

Seeing how miserable she was, I couldn’t help feeling pity for her and lent a hand.

And then we slowly got together.

I had already made it clear to her that I had a family.

I could help her life and her career, but that was all. Nothing more could happen between us.

She agreed, but later changed her mind.

She was too greedy. She actually wanted to marry me, and she threatened me!

I had no choice but to kill her, and I checked her phone to make sure she hadn’t spread our secret.

In other words, other than the two of us, no one knew about that hidden relationship.

But now, those very things were coming out of my wife Mia’s mouth!

The way she described Nina was very similar to how I remembered her.

But I didn’t believe the dead could come back to life.

Someone had to be messing with this!

“Mia, you said Nina was a nurse at the hospital?”

I pretended to remember her a little and tried to test Mia. “Next time you go to the hospital for a checkup, can you ask Nina to come out so I can meet her?”
