Chapter 4

The Alliance Gathering was packed with representatives from various packs.

My father and Liam sat on the stage, while I watched from below.

Not far away, Chloe stared at me with venomous eyes.

She slowly walked over.

"Emma, why are you so desperate?"

"Can't you see Liam’s heart has changed?"

"He stopped loving you a long time ago! If it weren't for the pup, he would have rejected you already!"

I didn't even bother giving her a glance.

But Chloe kept pushing.

"Emma, do you know how wild we were that night?"

"Knowing I was leaving, he couldn't get enough of me."

"I bet he hasn't touched you like that in years, has he?"

Her voice hissed like a snake.

I clenched my fists, resisting the urge to slap her right there.

The real show was about to start. I had to endure.

Seeing no reaction from me, Chloe sat down nearby with a huff.

The gathering commenced.

Liam stood on stage, confidently presenting the blueprint for the alliance with Silvermoon.

My father sat beside him, smiling politely.

Just as the latest agreement was about to be signed, my father stood up.

"Wait, Alpha Blackwood."

Liam looked confused.

But I was already walking up to the stage.

"Today, Silvermoon Pack has an announcement of our own."

I glanced briefly at Liam.

A sudden panic washed over him.

He tried to stop me, but my father blocked his way.

I smiled faintly and continued.

"Silvermoon Pack is dissolving its alliance with Shadowfang Pack."

"Going forward, all collaboration projects will be taken over by Ironcrest Pack."

Ironcrest and Shadowfang were arch-rivals.

Ironcrest had been trying to get a piece of this cake for a long time, but Shadowfang had a tight grip on it.

Now, I was handing it to them on a silver platter.

Liam lunged forward to stop me, but I stepped aside gracefully.

I looked at the crowd and spoke loud and clear.

"I, Emma Hart of Silvermoon Pack, hereby reject Liam Blackwood of Shadowfang Pack as my mate."

The entire hall fell into dead silence.

"From this day on, we are nothing to each other!"

Liam’s face turned white.

"Emma! I didn't agree to this! How dare you!"

I stared at him, watching his face drain of color.

The room remained silent. The heavy news left them stunned.

Soon, whispers erupted throughout the hall.

Seeing Liam frozen, an outspoken Alpha shouted, "Alpha Blackwood, did you know about this?"

"This is sudden. Do you have anything to say, Alpha Blackwood?"

Liam snapped, his face flushing red with rage.

"Get out! All of you, get out!"

The Alphas and representatives were startled by his outburst and started leaving.

Just then, Alpha Ethan of Ironcrest Pack stepped out from the shadows.

"Now, Ironcrest Pack will introduce the details of the new collaboration."

The crowd instantly swarmed toward Ethan.

Taking advantage of the chaos, my father and I slipped away.

But Liam caught up, blocking us at the corner.

"Emma, do you really hate me that much?"

His eyes were filled with sorrow.

"I know I messed up."

"I admitted my mistake. Why won't you give me another chance?"

"We still have our pup! Do you want our baby to grow up without a father?"

I laughed, a cold and cruel laugh.

"Liam, how dare you even mention the pup?"

"That pup died the moment you walked out on me for Chloe!"

"On that exact day, the day of the checkup..."

"He died!"
