The Sweetest Revenge: When My Wife's Lover Called Me 'Dad'

Chapter 1

2,510 words

"Who is this? Who are you looking for?"

I thought it was a spam call or a wrong number and was just about to hang up when a hesitant, nervous voice came through the receiver.

"Um... hi. Is Chloe there? I’m looking for Chloe."

If you're looking for Chloe, just say so. Why are you sounding so damn shy?

I was confused for a second, but then it clicked. This must be Chloe’s latest boy toy calling the house.

As her *lawful* husband, I figured it was time to teach this kid some manners. After all, he was the first one bold enough to call our home phone.

"This is Chloe’s... father."

A wicked idea popped into my head, and I forced myself to swallow the word *husband*.

Hearing that I was Chloe’s father, the guy on the other end became even more stiff and polite. "Oh! Sir! Hello, Mr. Miller. I’m Ethan... Chloe’s boyfriend."

Ha. If you’re her boyfriend, then who the hell am I?

"Oh? Chloe has never mentioned you before. Is there something you need?"

"Nothing urgent, sir. It’s just that Chloe is away on a business trip, and I haven’t been able to reach her."

I looked up at the wall clock, sneering in my mind. Chloe was probably busy having a wild night with someone else, which was why she wasn't answering his calls.

After hanging up on the poor, clueless kid, I held my warm phone and fell into deep thought.

I couldn’t even remember how angry I was when I first found out Chloe was cheating on me.

Back then, one of her flings actually showed up at our door, demanding I divorce her. I was so furious that I beat the guy half to death.

But when Chloe came home, she screamed at me, calling me an ungrateful loser.

I was naive enough to go to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Miller, demanding they talk some sense into their daughter.

Instead, they completely ignored my pain. They told me to self-reflect and ask myself why Chloe cheated. They asked if it was because I was too useless to keep my own wife happy.

I had never seen people defend an affair with such self-righteous arrogance.

Since that day, Chloe stopped hiding it. She insulted me and hit me whenever she pleased. On her bad days, she would scream at me for hours.

Back then, I was too terrified and weak to fight back. When I was bullied, I would just drown my sorrows in cheap beer.

But as the years passed and my own career finally took off, I learned how to fight back. Or rather, I learned to gather evidence quietly, waiting for the perfect moment to deliver a fatal blow to Chloe and avenge years of humiliation.
