After that, I took my packed bags and went home.

As if sensing something was wrong, my grandma made me a bowl of my favorite pear soup and brought it to my room.

"Serena, why did you suddenly move back home?"

"Did you have a fight with Lucas? Did he bully you?"

My eyes reddened.

"Grandma, if Lucas and I don't get married, will you be mad at me?"

My parents passed away early, and my grandma raised me.

Her biggest wish was to see me settle down and start a family.

So, she always valued my relationship with Lucas a lot.

But after a moment, the expected scolding didn't come.

Instead, a gentle hand came up and softly wiped my tears away. "Silly child, why would I ever blame you?"

"This morning, Lucas called me to tattle, saying you embarrassed him and were being jealous for no reason. I shut him right down."

"My granddaughter is treasured by me. If it weren't for your feelings, I would have never wanted to see you suffer for a man who doesn't deserve you."

Her words hit me, and a wave of intense bitterness and sorrow washed over me.

Along with a flicker of unspeakable anger.

Lucas actually had the nerve to call and complain to my grandma?

My grandma's health is already poor; she has a heart condition and can't handle stress.

If anything had happened to her, I would never have forgiven him!

I took my grandma's phone, wanting to block all of Lucas's contact info.

Just to set my mind at ease.

But then I saw he had updated his Instagram. "Even if you can't do anything, I like you."

The picture attached was of two hands tightly clasped together.

The wedding ring on Lucas's ring finger was glaringly obvious.

I recognized it. That was Rose's hand.

She wore long, bright pink acrylic nails that I had once politely warned her about.

"Nails this long break easily. They're not very practical for a caretaker role. You might want to consider a different style."

But Rose immediately went to Lucas to complain. "Does Miss Serena just not like me? She's even trying to dictate my nails."

Because of that, Lucas had a huge fight with me that day.

"You're just not feminine at all, so you find anything beautiful an eyesore."

"Do you want everyone around me to turn into a manly woman like you before you're happy?"

I was stunned.

Once, I was also a woman who loved dressing up and looking beautiful.

I only became more and more worn out because I drove myself into the ground working for free for Lucas.

I remember when I was so stressed over a bid that my hair started falling out in clumps,

Lucas was by my side, tearfully promising, "Serena, I will never fail you in this life."

So, vows only count when you're still deeply in love.

My thoughts pulled back to the present, and I calmly deleted all of Lucas's contact information.

That night, I got a call from him using Rose's phone number.

"Serena, just to spite me, you actually blocked me and emptied the entire house?"

"I don't care where you are, you come back to see me in half an hour, or this wedding is completely off!"

Rose, beside him, chimed in with fake sympathy. "Lucas, don't be mad. I'm sure Miss Serena is just acting impulsively."

She took the phone and spoke "magnanimously." "Look, Lucas hasn't even held a grudge about you walking out at the press conference today, and he even specially saved the Director position for you."

"Just take a step back and let it go. Otherwise, this is just going to make everyone look bad."

She said it as if a Director position could make up for my five years of blood, sweat, and tears.

"Cut the act, Rose. Don't you feel sick?"

I was at my limit. "When you first joined the company, you came to me saying your family was struggling, so I promoted you to a special assistant position to look out for you."

"Is stealing my man your way of repaying me?"

With that, I hung up, blocked the number, and deleted it, all in one smooth motion.

After that, I sent a text to my core team still at Grey. "I'm leaving here and going to Titan. Is anyone willing to come with me?"

I had personally trained all of them.

They were already indignant on my behalf.

Now, hearing my words, they all chimed in. "We'll go wherever you go, Miss Serena!"

"Exactly! Grey Corporation was built up by Miss Serena. To give the VP role to a newbie is a slap in the face to everyone who's poured their heart into this company!"

I smirked coldly.

Lucas, oh Lucas, seven days from now, when you're staring at a hollowed-out shell of a company,

I wonder what kind of mood you'll be in?
